Maintenance Electrical Engineer

Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Engineer to work on a 1-year contract for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.

Location : Burnaby, BC Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

Responsibilities :

The main purpose of this role is to develop and implement electricity generation equipment preventive maintenance programs and to support Asset Management and Safety related initiatives.

• Preparing project documentation and deliverables per design practices and regulatory standards.
• Developing design work packages, including scope and estimates.
• Preparing signed and sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR).
• Providing technical assistance, field support, and undertaking field reviews as required.
• Conducting structural design and analysis for various foundation types (concrete, steel, timber, etc.) related to overhead lines, underground cables, and submarine cables.
• Performing seismic analysis and design.
• Offering technical guidance and reviewing designs from others.
• Managing design tasks, including scope, schedule, and cost.

Requirements :

1. Experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including supporting documentation such as maintenance procedures, maintenance instructions, record forms as well as selection of required spare parts to sustain equipment operation.

All deliverables with quality, within budget, and on time.

2. Must have minimum two (2) years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and / or commissioning field, or equivalent.

3. Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment

4. Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and / or developing / performing commissioning plans for a variety of electrical assets including :

• generator exciter
• DC power supply equipment (batteries, chargers, etc)
• medium and low voltage AC power supply equipment (oil filled and dry type transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, surge arresters, switchgear, power distribution panels, etc)
• control & monitoring related components
• electrical protection related components

5. As a minimum, registered Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and / or eligible for registration as such with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
