Our client, a manufacturer of womens contemporary and classic clothing, is looking for a Production Planning Manager to join their growing team! The Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the production planning process.
The role focuses on managing and coordinating production schedules to ensure efficient operations, timely delivery, and cost-effective production.
The Production Planning Manager leads a team of three employees and reports directly to the Director, Global Production & Purchasing.
This role is not responsible for demand planning but focuses on optimizing production schedules based on sales forecasts provided by the demand planning team, as well as inventory and manufacturing capacities.
Responsibilities :
Team Leadership & Management :
- Supervise and lead a team of three production planners, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Set clear goals for the team, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives and production strategies.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment, ensuring the team meets production goals and deadlines.
Production Planning & Scheduling :
- Develop and manage detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and available manufacturing capacity.
- Collaborate closely with production and sourcing teams to ensure alignment between production schedules and resource availability.
- Adjust and revise production plans as needed to accommodate delays, equipment issues, or changes in priorities, while maintaining cost and efficiency targets.
Collaboration With Cross-Functional Teams :
- Work closely with the sourcing and production teams to ensure materials are available when needed and that production processes run smoothly.
- Communicate regularly with the Director, Global Production & Purchasing to provide updates on production schedules, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
Process Optimization & Efficiency :
- Continuously evaluate and improve production planning processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Implement best practices in production scheduling and workflow management to ensure on-time production while minimizing waste and downtime.
Reporting & Performance Tracking :
- Monitor production performance through key metrics such as on-time delivery and lead times.
- Prepare and present production status reports to the Director, Global Production & Purchasing, highlighting areas of success and areas needing improvement.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implement corrective actions as needed.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production planning or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in the fashion or apparel industry.
- Proven experience in managing and developing teams.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing processes, and capacity planning.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in production planning software, ERP systems, and Excel.
