JOB SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the complete process for the payroll of salaried, unionized and retired employees for western and eastern operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Complete payroll processing for all salaried, unionized and retired employees while ensuring that payments comply with the clauses of the various collective agreements and procedures in force;
- Track all statutory holidays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. for all unionized employees. You must ensure all registers are up to date and compliance with the various collective agreements and procedures;
- Perform all bank transfers as well as requests for payments (taxes, union dues, garnishments, etc.);
- Produce job records for all salaried employees, unionized employees and retirees, as well as for all students and interns hired during the summer period;
- Act as a resource person for all matters relating to the operation of employee payroll. Support all managers who must perform transactions in the payroll system for employees;
- Perform all transactions related to the opening and closing of the employees’ compensation records;
- Prepare government remittances including records of employment, T4 etc. and balance government remittances;
- Participate in the process of the end of the fiscal year and calendar year;
- Prepares a variety of payroll related reports, including grievances claims, hours worked and paid, overtime and short and long term absenteeism, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- College diploma in Administration, or Management of Human Resources, or Accounting;
- Accreditation to the Canadian Payroll Association would be a considerable asset;
- Minimum of five (5) years’ of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment;
- Experience in a unionized environment; able to interpret collective agreements;
- Bilingualism both oral and written (French and English);
- Knowledge in the field of pay and various provincial legislations;
- Knowledge of Word software, intermediate level;
- Knowledge of Excel software, advanced level;
- Knowledge of Kronos and Dimensions (Business Central) software, advanced level;
- Analytical & detail-oriented;
- Sense of teamwork & interpersonal skills;
- Excellent problem solving skills;
- Sense of responsibility;
- Autonomous;
- Sense of organizational and ability to manage prioritize;
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS (OFFICE / PLANT, TRAVELING, ON CALL, ETC) :
Hybrid (3 days office, 2 days home)
