We have an opportunity for a Building Operations Specialist for Commercial Properties Limited (CPL) Nova Scotia properties. Reporting to the Manager- Building Operations, this position will be responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance tasks, conducting site inspections, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment to enhance business operations. The role involves driving continuous improvements in energy efficiency, maintaining high standards of quality and performance, and ensuring cost effectiveness.

Position Scope :

  • Partner with Client Services Team on Tenant day-to-day facility management activities to deliver CPL’s “@ Your Service” Tenant experience.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely completion of contracted services. Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Address tenant requests in professional timely manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Monitor and report energy consumption.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests.
  • Maintain detailed records of all building systems operations and maintenance activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.

Required Education and Experience :

  • Seven to Ten (7-10) years’ work experience.
  • College or University Degree / Diploma / Certification in HVAC, Controls, and / or Building Operations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire / life safety.
  • Strong organizational & time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage external consultants and contractors as required.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
