Registered Psychiatric Nurse – Regional Police and Crisis Team (RPACT)
Alberta Health Services (AHS) in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) seeks a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to provide clinical assessment, crisis intervention and mental health consultation in an outreach setting. The role is clinical in nature and supports multidisciplinary teams in public safety contexts.
Overview
The RPN collaborates with RCMP officers to respond to mental health crises, facilitate outreach, and deliver evidence‑based care to individuals presenting with public safety concerns, addiction, homelessness risk and other vulnerable circumstances. The position is based in Peace River Mental Health and works local RCMP detachment teams under the direction of a zone clinical supervisor and the RPACT leadership team.

Qualifications
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act, co‑existing medical and mental illnesses, and psychiatric medication management.
High level of interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and proficiency in computer and word processing skills.
Proficiency in crisis assessment, stabilization, addiction and suicide risk assessment and establishing provisional diagnosis independently.
Preferred : Experience with forensic populations, single‑session supportive counselling and knowledge of community resources and agencies.
