The purpose of the Welder / Fitter position is to fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld metal components and assemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports manufacturing by ensuring structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and timely completion of welded assemblies while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
The Welder / Fitter will interact with all levels of the organization including supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and fellow production employees. This role reports to the Shop Foreman.
This role is currently vacant and is being filled due to an existing position becoming available.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :
Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbolsLay out, fit, and tack components prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and tolerancesPerform welding operations using MIG, TIG, and / or Stick welding processes as requiredSelect appropriate welding equipment, materials, and techniques based on job requirementsOperate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, drills, presses, and other shop toolsEnsure welds meet quality, strength, and appearance standardsInspect finished welds and assemblies for accuracy and defectsPerform rework or repairs as required to meet specificationsMaintain dimensional accuracy using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squaresWork collaboratively with team members to meet production schedulesMaintain accurate completion of work orders and related documentationMaintain a clean and organized work areaAssist with material handling, including moving and positioning parts and assembliesSafety Specific :Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company safety policies and procedures
Adhere to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the roleParticipate in safety training, including regular emergency drillsFollow all guidelines for the safe operation of tools, machinery, and vehiclesReport all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediatelyActively look for and report potential hazards in the workplaceMaintain a clean and organized work environment, free of potential hazardsPractice proper ergonomics to prevent strain injuriesAdhere to office safety procedures, including emergency evacuation routes, fire drills, and building safety protocolsOther duties as assignedWHAT YOU NEED :
Certified or experienced Fitter Welder preferredMinimum 35 years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environmentProficiency in MIG welding required; TIG and Stick welding considered an assetAbility to lift up to 50 lbsForklift and / or overhead crane experience considered an assetAbility to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbolsStrong attention to detail and qualityAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environmentGood planning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsRespect and protect confidentiality
