MERRITT CENTRAL & DIAMOND VALE ELEMENTARY & MERRITT SECONDARY SCHOOLS 1.0 FTE Continuing full-time Nle’kepmxcin (Thompson) Language Instructor, beginning September 1, 2024.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Be a fluent speaker of the Nle?kepmxcin Language. Possess a First Nations Language teacher certificate for Nle?

kepmxcin, or be eligible for this certificate. Knowledge and understanding of Nle?kepmx and / or Syilx culture. Training and experience working with grade-level students.

Experience with adapting materials, resources, assessments, and learning outcomes for student needs. Valid BC Teaching certificate or eligible for Letter of Permission.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : A commitment to supporting a variety of learning needs. Experience / training in supporting the social-emotional learning needs of students.

A commitment to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, staff and parents. A commitment to working as a member of a school team in support of students.

Moving Allowance Support : $1500.00 for teachers within BC and $2000.00 within Canada. School District 58 is working to ensure an inclusive, diverse and representative workforce.

The starting annual salary for this full-time teacher position ranges from $60,090 - $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
