Make an impact with our Forestry Program Management Consulting Team as a Consultant and program lead. Our diverse team of professionals deliver program administration for a large forestry grant funding organization. As a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate with the team in the delivery of forestry-related projects within the funding programs. Our team is based in Edmonton and works in our downtown office, this is an in-person, on-site position.

Responsibilities
- Participate in program management related to forestry programs delivered by a large forestry funding organization
- Support government, industry, academic, contractor, municipal and Indigenous stakeholders in the delivery of forestry program initiatives
- Track and assess forestry related project activities including silviculture, habitat restoration operations, wildfire mitigation, forest management, forest health, etc.
- Assess deliverables, metrics and expense claims to ensure eligible activities deliver the expected value
- Conduct stakeholder support activities (project status updates; monthly, annual and ad hoc reporting; review proposals and set up grant agreements; assist with budgeting / reconciling accounts and funding status updates)
- Project management to prioritize work and resource accordingly
- Develop Requests for Proposals, facilitate proposal review panels, prepare written and numerical reports for the Organization’s Board
- Communicate findings and help make recommendations to senior managers and the Organization’s Board by analyzing and synthesizing high-level information
- Utilize GIS software (QGIS) to plan and prepare work, as well as review deliverables and final project outcomes
- Occasional operational field reviews to assess the quality and quantity of field work being undertaken (may require use of 4x4 truck on unpaved roads in remote areas or use of a helicopter)
- Collaborate with the team to align activities to work plans; ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget
- Support the growth and evolution of the consulting practice with an emphasis on the forestry industry
Skills and Experience
3-5 years of related work experience is strongly preferredConsulting experience and business operations experience preferredProject management experience is requiredRelevant work experience should include silviculture, operations, forest management, land use management, wildfire management, Consultation etc.RPF or RPFT designation is preferred, related natural resource experience will be consideredStrong computer literacy including effective use of Microsoft Suite and GIS (ESRI or QGIS to review, create, combine and attribute shapefiles)Extremely high attention to detail and ability to accurately input data is imperativeExcellent time management, project management and organizational skillsCritical thinking, problem solving and ability to innovate are critical skillsSelf-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environmentAbility and willingness to travel throughout rural Alberta to visit client locations including remote field sites (estimated 2-4 days a month)
