This role spans design, capacity planning, construction and commissioning support, customer fit‑outs, financial estimation, vendor engagement, and industry trend monitoring. The ideal candidate brings both technical depth and the ability to support budgeting, quoting, and negotiation activities for infrastructure and customer deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Centre Design & Engineering : Assist in engineering and design for data centre expansions, upgrades, and new builds; close support of new customer opportunities; develop and update floor plans, cabinet layouts, containment designs, and mechanical / electrical schematics; support design reviews to ensure compliance with Tier architecture and redundancy strategies.
- Power Planning & Capacity Management : Develop power allocation models for customer deployments and future capacity planning; track load utilisation and redundancy paths across electrical systems; validate feasibility of 20–100kW+ high‑density cabinet deployments; maintain capacity data (kW, kVA, CEs, PUE, chilled‑water capacity); track sold, used, peak and available capacities by sub‑system.
- Cooling, High‑Density & Liquid Cooling Planning : Assess mechanical system performance (airflow, tonnage, CRAH / CRAC, chilled‑water systems); assist in implementing high‑density cooling strategies including IRC, RDHx, containment, and DLC; support thermal modelling and ASHRAE guideline compliance.
- Space, Colocation & Customer Fit‑Out Planning : Maintain white‑space layouts, pathways, cabinet placements and cage designs; participate directly in customer fit‑out planning, including deployment design, cabinet specifications, and power / cooling alignment; ensure efficient space planning with minimal stranded capacity; collaborate with Sales Engineering on technical validation for customer proposals.
- Construction & Commissioning Support : Support construction phases by coordinating with contractors and reviewing design deviations; participate in commissioning activities (Level 1–5) for electrical and mechanical systems; assist in punch‑list management, equipment testing and system turn‑up verification.
- Vendor Relationships & Industry Engagement : Maintain working relationships with electrical and mechanical equipment manufacturers (UPS, switchgear, cooling, DLC systems, busway, generators, etc.); participate in product evaluations, roadmap sessions and vendor negotiations; stay current with industry trends including high‑density compute, energy efficiency, liquid cooling and next‑generation facility technologies; provide internal updates and recommendations on emerging innovations.
- Financial Management, Quoting & Budgeting : Prepare cost estimates and technical inputs for customer proposals, cage builds, cabinet deployments and high‑density solutions; support budgeting for infrastructure projects, upgrades and equipment procurement; assist with vendor quote comparisons, value analysis and negotiation preparation; track financial impacts of design decisions; provide input into multi‑year capital planning and facility growth budgets.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability : Support initiatives that lower PUE and improve mechanical / electrical efficiency; assist in evaluating efficiency upgrades, airflow improvements and economisation opportunities; analyse facility and customer load data to identify sustainability improvements.
- Documentation & Process : Maintain CAD models, design documentation, capacity tracking tools and engineering standards; support development of SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, commissioning documents and audit materials; ensure accurate documentation is available for operations, construction and customer teams.
