Mechanical Estimator

Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their Calgary office. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in building mechanical systems design and project delivery across commercial, institutional, and healthcare sectors specializing in Plumbing. The successful candidate will manage multi-disciplinary project teams, liaise directly with clients, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards.

• Participate in the full estimating cycle, including tender submissions, conceptual estimates, and pre-construction schedules for Project Manager review
  

• Prepare lump-sum estimates for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment based on contract bids, drawings, specifications, and quotations
  

• Complete quantity surveys, unit pricing, general conditions costs, overhead application, and proposal terms and conditions
  

• Collaborate with Project Managers to develop bid strategies and estimating approaches
  

• Provide mentorship and guidance to assigned personnel involved in estimate preparation and revisions
  

• Review bid packages, drawings, and specifications for completeness and accuracy
  

• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for materials and supplies
  

• Verify take-offs for mathematical and technical accuracy
  

• Liaise with suppliers and obtain pricing quotations
  

• Attend pre-bid meetings as required
  

• Prepare final cost estimates, including overhead and profit adjustments
  

• Present completed bid packages in accordance with client specifications
  

• Review and incorporate addendums into tender submissions
  

• Track actual project costs against estimates and identify opportunities for process improvement
  

• Perform other related duties as required

• Experience with estimating and construction software is considered an asset (e.g., Accubid, QuickPen, Pro core)
  

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with a proven track record in the local market
  

• Post-secondary degree, diploma, and/or valid Journey person certification in the mechanical field
  

• Thorough understanding of local construction associations and related documentation
  

• Strong knowledge of construction systems
  

• Travel may be required
