Our client is seeking a Payroll Administrator (3+years) to process payroll transactions with Pension Plan experience in the public sector (HYBRID, St. Albert, AB).
Responsibilities :
- Auditing timesheets for correct coding, approval signature, and adequate documentation.
- Running auditing reports to verify time entry information.
- Ensuring all terms and conditions of the collective agreement are applied appropriately.
- Ensuring Employment Standards, Labour Standards, Federal and Provincial payroll related tax laws, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies are followed.
- Calculating and processing various payments and entitlements such as :
- Severance and termination payments.
- Retroactive payments.
- Leave, vacation adjustments, reductions, reinstatements, and other entitlement adjustments.
- Ensuring source documents and backup are completed, authorized, and submitted on time.
- Verifying and completing adjustments to pay as requested with supporting documentation.
- Reviewing employee position information such as : change in employment status, benefit coverage, job / position change, etc.
to confirm if any payroll adjustments are required.
- Tracking employee advances for recovery through direct withdrawal or payroll deduction.
- Maintaining filing of audit reports, reconciliations, and timesheets.
- Prepare records of employment upon terminations or certain leaves.
- Running audit reports, and investigating and reconciling any imbalances.
- Preparing bi-weekly or monthly remittance documentation and forwarding to Accounts Payable. (e.g. : CRA, benefit carriers, APS, etc.)
- Creating bank file(s) with supporting documentation for transfer of funds for payroll and remittances.
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries for input.
- Reviewing and reconciling payroll related general ledger accounts and making any adjustments.
- Performing monthly pension reconciliations including investigating and correcting errors, submitting payments, service, salary, and contributions to APS
Must Have :
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and 3+ years of payroll experience in a complex computerized payroll system
- Pension Plan experience such as PSPP ( Public Service Pension Plan ), MEPP ( Management Enforcement Pension Plan ), MSRP or LAPP
- Microsoft Office knowledge with strong excel and word experience is required
- Willing and able to work Hybrid in St. Albert, Alberta
