Job Summary
Our client in Windsor, ON is looking for a Quality / Reliability Engineer Powertrain. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do
- Implement commodity‑specific business plans to ensure suppliers exceed all corporate launch, quality, capacity, warranty metrics, and vehicle delivery.
- Lead cross‑functional decisions with Client & Supplier leadership to drive resolution of open issues.
- Implement actions to ensure zero vehicle losses from suppliers.
- Principal for on‑site troubleshooting and corrective actions for emergency supplier situations.
- Lead adherence to Client standards (i.e., Q1).
- Lead Critical Supplier Process to drive Supplier Quality Reject (QR) performance improvement.
- Participate in Whiteboard reviews and assigned sub‑system VRT (Variability Reduction Team) meetings. Drive resolution of external supplier process –1MIS and 0MIS warranty concerns.
- Support QR procedures by supporting concern binning, reviewing threshold QRs, and providing support for QR dispute resolution. Assist the Incoming Quality (IQ) department with non‑responsive suppliers. Assist suppliers and plants in QR / PPM (Parts Per Million) data accuracy.
- Drive assessment & validation of manufacturing feasibility at identified supplier sites.
- Execute the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Quality Planning Process (APQP).
- Use available data, metrics, and business plans to drive future sourcing decisions ensuring improved future quality.
- Implement commodity‑specific business plans to ensure suppliers exceed all corporate metrics.
- Lead on‑site troubleshooting and corrective actions for emergency supplier situations.
- Coordinate part quality confirmation process for suppliers with repetitive containment failure.
- Lead containment of special‑cause supplier process –1MIS and 0MIS BSAQ (Balanced Single Agenda for Quality) projects.
- Align with VRT on Supplier Process (SP) BSAQ issues for Glidepath values.
- Provide early notification to and engage the STA Site team on potential Stop Shipments related to supplier process (SP).
- Provide support in containing supplier Stop Ship issues. Assist Site STA team with vehicle On‑Hold and Release process tracking.
- Work with Stop Ship stakeholders to support accurate root cause for Prevent Action Closure (PAC) process reporting.
- Monitor daily production report (DPR) and provide notification to STA management for issues that require Site STA team awareness / intervention.
- Act as direct Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) resident supplier representative and liaison between STA and plant management, support Daily Plant Quality Meetings (or PIC Room) to report on containment of SP ECB (Early Concern Binning) issues, participate in VRT forums, lead supplier preparation for VQRs (Vehicle Quality Review).
Basics
Bachelor's Degree.AIAG APQP.Quality Assurance / Control.Quality Control.PPAP processes.Problem Solving.Machining.5+ years of experience in one or more, but not limited to the following manufacturing processes :Casting.Machining.Welding.Brazing.Sintering.Automated / Manual Assembly Processes.Controls Automation programming.Preferred
Experience leading multiple assignments with demanding timelines.Manufacturing, maintenance, and quality operations experience.What We Offer
