Michael Garron Hospital (formally the Toronto East General Hospital), is a vibrant 450-bed community teaching hospital serving one of Canada’s most diverse communities in the heart of East Toronto.

MGH is seeking a visionary, forward thinking strategic leader who will serve as a role model in supporting the hospital’s strategic direction, a highly respected clinician and collaborative leader in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Chief, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Co-Program Medical Director of Maternal Newborn & Child Health Services

With joint accountability to the Chief of Staff, VP Medical and VP Clinical, the new Chief will be the medical leader of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, in a productive dyadic leadership model with the Director, Maternal Newborn services.

Jointly with the Chief of Midwifery and Chief of Pediatrics, they will be the medical co-lead for the overall Maternal, Newborn and Child Health service.

This leader will be highly collaborative, fostering operational excellence, and passionate about quality improvement and innovation in broad reproductive health care needs through the life cycle.

They will be committed to improving structural health system issues that affect access to care with a strong commitment to health equity and serving diverse populations.

The incoming Chief will build our gynecologic surgery focus, building new partnerships and growing existing ones across our health system.

The Chief will bring their energy to our academic system with a clear mandate to grow our education programs for trainees across disciplines.

We are expanding our research institute, focused on patient safety, patient-oriented care, and research embedded into our clinical work.

Our incoming leader will have a passion for fostering a research and quality improvement mindset to our clinical work.

MGH excels as an anchor partner in our Ontario Health Team, and our incoming Chief will have the ability to influence this system work.

The new Chief will possess a FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynecology, be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto.
