The successful applicant to this position will have key role as part of our district inclusion team. Occupational therapy is a professional health discipline that utilizes the analysis and application of activities specifically related to performance in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. Occupational therapists (OT) employed by a school district work to promote, maintain, and develop the skills needed by students to be functional in a school setting. The services provided by the OT in schools includes assessments, consultation with the school based and district teams, program planning and training, and assistance in treatment and equipment selection to allow all students to have their therapeutic goals included in their educational routines. Minimum Qualifications : Master’s of Occupational Therapy Registration with the “College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia

  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapy in BC Previous pediatric experience Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, multiple disabilities, and feeding concerns. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities A philosophy that supports integration and inclusion for all students. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively with other therapists, SBTs, community partners and parents Strong interpersonal skills and a team approach to meeting the needs of students. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, students and parents and be able to take a leadership role in the training of staff involved in the student’s program. A good understanding and knowledge of assistive technology.
