As a Clinical Counselling Student Learner, (known internally as a Staff Clinician Student Learner) you will become an integral part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team within our EFAP, Stay At Work Services and / or Return To Work Services organizational units.
With supervised focus on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers, you will participate in a variety of activities that will increase your knowledge and further establish your skills while qualifying for your Direct and Indirect hour requirements.

What you’ll be doing :
Dependent on the organizational unit hosting your practicum placement, your experience may include and is not limited to the following :
EFAP Stay At Work (SAW) and Return To Work (RTW) :
- Deliver SAW direct and indirect clinical services as assigned, including confidential counselling to meet the hours of the practicum as discussed with the Practicum Placement Supervisor
- Receive case assignments, establish treatment plans, complete case progress notes as well as other indirect clinical service
- Adhere to professional standards and best practices
- Participate in training as required
- Work collaboratively with other clinical managers within SAW and RTW
- This is a virtual placement opportunity noting you may have the opportunity to attend in person as needed (dependent on proximity to a relevant office space)
What we’re looking for :
Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s Program relevant to Clinical Counselling
Skills :
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- For positions in Quebec, excellent bilingual English and French verbal and written communication skills
Competencies and Attributes :
- Experience delivering short term and / or single session counselling
- Ability to manage risk and crisis situations and apply good clinical judgment under pressure
- Talent for providing seamless customer service delivery and identifying opportunities for customer service improvement
- Excellent listening skills combined with ability to convey empathy
- Take responsibility for actions and decisions
- Find ways to integrate sustainability into own work
- Other :
- Vulnerable Sector Clearance May be applied for upon placement offer
- Provisional Status Registration with your preferred governing body
- Internet speed must be minimum 50 Mbps - confirmation with screenshot will be required (
- Must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week (completed over three weekdays) 80% of which would be between 8am - 4pm
- Modem / Router access required
- Dedicated, confidential workspace required
