Forklift Operator (EWP Experience)

Job Purpose

Building lumber and beam packages safe and efficiently to ship to our customers. Maintaining your workplace and equipment in accordance with the policies of Griff Building. To make sure the customers needs are met whether in person for pick up or building the loads correctly for delivery.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Build customer orders and double check for accuracy.
• All weather sensitive products must be wrapped before shipment regardless of weather conditions.
• Clean as you go and make sure product is left in accordance with the policies and procedures when pulling orders.
• Maintain and secure assigned tools and other equipment necessary to complete your job.
• Daily forklift check sheet filled out and given to Quality control and safety coordinator.
• Follow established work policies and procedures and make suggestions for improvements to yard lead.
• Assist in inventory counts twice a year and rotating counts as required.
• Participate in staff meetings and training as needed.
• Assist with the training of new staff and promote a team mentality.
• Understand and follow WCB safety requirements and inform anyone in shipping of any safety issues.
• Be product aware and ship oldest stock first making sure product rotation is being done.
• Lift wrap and ensure that wholesale orders are receiving stock that is in good condition as if it just came from the mill.
• All other related duties.

Qualifications

• Forklift certified
• First aid level 2 (Optional)

Competencies

The person doing this job must take pride in their work environment and work clean as you go. Must be able to look at the big picture when pulling orders and leave the area safe and cleaner than they found it.

Working conditions

Work in all weather conditions and have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Safety boots and all black clothing/raingear must be worn while working.
