We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Langley, BC Engineering team. This role focuses on electrical systems design, including protection, control, and electrical apparatus, supporting projects in the heavy industrial, petrochemical, and oil & gas sectors. Reporting to Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will provide engineering support and occasional field services, contributing to high-quality project execution and exceptional client experiences.
This position is primarily based at our Langley corporate office with approximately 15% business travel as required.
Engineering & Design
- Apply practical knowledge of power systems and protective relays for industrial applications
- Prepare Construction Work Packages, including technical drawings and supporting documentation
- Develop early-stage engineering documents such as Design Basis Memoranda, Engineering Design Specifications, Layout Drawings, and Cost Estimations
- Write procurement specifications for electrical equipment
- Prepare bid evaluations, analysis summaries, and purchase recommendations
- Complete technical reports and design documentation
Project & Client Support
Support project definition, planning, and implementationAssist with procurement of specified equipment, materials, and componentsCoordinate electrical inspection servicesProvide regular project status updates to Client Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, and Team LeadersDevelop proposals based on audits, studies, and client requestsInteract with clients in a professional and courteous mannerQuality, Safety & Process
Conduct QA / QC reviews of outgoing deliverablesMaintain diligent document control within client and internal systemsApply project management and quality control practices to meet financial and client performance targetsIdentify and implement continuous process improvementsWork safely around low-, medium-, and high-voltage systems across diverse environmentsCollaboration
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams\ mentor, and contribute positively to team culture

Education & Certification
BSc in Electrical Engineering with 1–4 years of relevant engineering or technical field experienceOR
Electrical Engineering Technologist accreditation with 1–6 years of electrical experienceWorking toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA) or registered CET with ASET with interest in pursuing P.TechTechnical Skills
Experience with ETAP power system simulation software is an assetFamiliarity with electrical design tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SmartPlant is an assetKnowledge of :
P&IDs, loop diagrams, and single-line diagramsProtection and control schematics and wiring diagramsMV and LV power distribution systemsElectrical equipment including switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, protection relays, and transformersCanadian Electrical Code requirements for hazardous and non-hazardous locationsProfessional Skills
