The Opportunity

Thisrolewill leadthelegal team supporting ourdynamicPower and Energy Solutions(PES)business unit and our Corporate Development are seeking someonewith strong leadership skills and business acumentolead acapableteam of lawyers and legal willpartnerwith the businesstoprovide commercial regulatory transactional marketingtrading andcompliancelegal alsocoordinate with otherteams within the legal department in connection with issues relating to financinglitigationand public role will report to the Vice President Canada and Mexico Pipelines PES & Corporate Development Lawand couldbe located ineither Calgary or within Canada and between Canada and the US will berequired.

Whatyoulldo

• Lead a teamoflawyersand legal professionals andpartnereffectivelywith the business to providetimelypragmaticandhigh-quality legal support
• Lead and overseecomplex legal matters including:
  • Commercial and regulatory legal supportfor operating assets proposed projects and business development opportunities in Canada and the US
  • Acquisition divestiture and joint venture transactions
  • Ongoing legal support forthe management ofTCsjoint ventureinterests
  • Commercial and regulatory support for power and gas marketing activities including financial and physical commodity trading agreements and associated derivatives transactions as well as market compliance and reporting in Canada and the US
• Mentor team members and provide feedbackguidanceand direction
• Manage external legal counsel whererequired
• Develop and manage departmental budgets including the management of external counsel retainerswhere applicable
• Champion the adoption of artificial intelligence tools to provide effective legal support and reduce external legalspend
• Respond and provide advice duringemergency incidents

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctordegree
• Active license to practice law in Canadaor the US (New York and/or Texas preferred)
• 15yearsoflegalexperience
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Strategic thinking anda growth mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leadinganin-house legal team
• Experience within thepowerindustry in Canada and/or the US
• Experience leading acquisitiondivestitureor joint venture transactions

This position requires candidates to:

• Have current valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada US and Mexico)
• Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments meetings or training
