Primary function : Assist teachers in the implementation of educational and therapy programs that address physical, mental, behavioural, health and safety needs of students.
Performance Responsibilities
Implement Individual Program Plans under teacher supervisionAssist in providing data for student evaluationAlert teacher to any special circumstances regarding a studentAssist with large, small groups or individual studentsSupport classroom discipline methodsAssist with field tripsAdapt classroom activities to students’ capabilities, encouraging independence and self‑help skillsMonitor students in class and on the playground, reinforcing safe behaviours and participation in travel, training and off‑campus activitiesEscort students to and from bus, taxi, etc.Conduct prescribed therapeutic and exercise programs for physically exceptional studentsAttend to personal needs of students with disabilities, including feeding, toileting, and use of mobility equipmentParticipate in all facets of the program to develop language, independence, mobility and self‑help skills under teacher or multi‑disciplinary team directionAssist in maintaining progress records, provide observations, and work as part of the multi‑disciplinary teamPrepare instructional material, lesson supplies, and equipment under teacher directionClean and store materials and equipment after useDisplay student work and prepare bulletin board displaysMark objective lists and routine exercisesContinuously improve expertise and job‑related skillsOther responsibilities as assigned by teacher / PrincipalApplication Closing
