The Yukon Liquor Corporation strives for service excellence that supports a healthy, vibrant and prosperous Yukon. Our mission is to offer customers legal access to a variety of liquor and cannabis products while considering the wellbeing and economic prosperity of the territory.
The Corporation’s branches work to support Yukon’s food and beverage industry, cannabis market, and local liquor producers through a range of programs and services.
We continuously evolve our business structure to improve the way we operate our Whitehorse Liquor Store, central warehouse and five rural community Liquor Stores in Dawson City, Faro, Haines Junction, Mayo, and Watson Lake.

The opportunity
This position is responsible for policy development with the Yukon Liquor Corporation (YLC) to help meet strategic goals and achieve mandate items.
Our mission is to offer customers legal access to a variety of liquor and cannabis products while considering the wellbeing and economic prosperity of the territory.
Reporting to the Director of Policy, Communications, and Social Responsibility, this position implements the Yukon Liquor Corporation’s policy objectives through research, data, and options analysis, interpreting and contributing to developing legislation, managing workplans, gathering input from stakeholders and other departments, and preparing decision documents and policy papers.
The position also responds to requests from the Minister’s office and prepares briefing notes. We are looking for someone who is a strong writer and an analytical thinker passionate about developing policy that supports the wellbeing and economic prosperity of Yukoners.
The Policy, Communications and Social Responsibility branch leads legislative development projects and provides policy support to YLC’s programs.
This team also manages corporate communications and supports social responsibility initiatives in partnership with businesses and community organizations.

- Successful completion of post-secondary degree in public policy, public administration, law, the social sciences or a related field
- Experience undertaking research and analysis in support of public policy and legislative development initiatives, preferably in a government setting
- Experience planning, leading, or facilitating multi-staged projects working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders or government departments
- Experience providing strategic direction, advice, and recommendations on complex and diverse issues, preferably to senior management
Candidates who have education, training, and / or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
