Job Details

Salary range : $68,640 $85,280

Shift structure : Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

Primary location : CASA Calgary

Union : Exempt

FTE : 1.0 FTE (36.25 hours / week)

Status : Permanent

About the Role

CASA Mental Health is looking for an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisor to support the continued growth of the organization.

The Occupational Health and Safety Advisor will :

  • Report to the Manager, Occupational Health and Patient Safety.
  • Work with employees, leaders and contractors to ensure safety becomes embedded in workplace culture.
  • Provide employees and leaders with individual support regarding reportable incidents, interpretation, categorization, WCB and other concerns.
  • Communicate and contribute to solutions regarding safety concerns.
  • Promote occupational health and safety among staff through communications and engagement activities (e.g. develop and deliver presentations and education sessions).
  • Develop, organize and deliver required training to ensure organization-wide legislative and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, administer and maintain elements of the occupational health and safety program, which includes but is not limited to :
  • Incident management, hazard assessments, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, training, duress alarm management, food safety, workers’ rights, WHMIS, working alone, work from home, immunization, and equipment maintenance.
  • Policies, procedures and a variety of support documentation as needed.
  • Contribute to internal reporting regarding OHS statistics and trends.
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence Lead to identify internal risks and provide recommendations through data and analytics.
  • Act as a key change agent and change management resource throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, public health, health sciences, nursing or a health related field.
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience in occupational health and safety.
  • Experience in a health-care environment (hospital, community-based or equivalent) and / or a mental health treatment setting is a strong asset.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset.
  • Awareness and knowledge of current occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements, and the ability to apply it to a variety of circumstances.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.

Conditions of Employment

  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
