Assistant Educator - Infant Program

Overview

Upper Canada Child Care – “A smile on each child’s face…every day.” We are recruiting an Assistant Educator to join our team in Innisfil at St. Andre Bessette CS. This position is to fill an existing vacancy.

Position

Pay Range : Assistant Educator $20.20 - $23.08 / hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00 / hr).

Position Type & Required Availability : Full-Time Full Day Position (30 hours / week). Candidates must be available to work a 6-hour shift Monday-Friday to be considered.

Position Summary

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play-based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities

• Applies current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
• Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals / snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
• Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
• Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
• Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
• Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
• Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
• Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
