The role
We are looking for a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic to support our Real Property Planning and Management Branch. The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
Are you ready to put your problem-solving skills to work on maintaining and repairing equipment for our research labs, and the heating and cooling systems for the building? Working at the NRC would provide you with the opportunity to work with our unique facilities which include industrial, commercial, residential, specialised and scientific equipment. The incumbent would provide repairs, maintenance and installation services for a variety of equipment and building systems, including :
The maintenance activities are carried out in response to emergency situations, malfunctions and as part of regular preventative maintenance programs. The mechanic is responsible for equipment and control systems during emergency call-ins, scheduled overtime and power shutdowns. They must comply with and maintain government refrigerant regulations and records.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic typically work a 37.5 hour work week with rotational on-call and overtime – but no shift work, and no regularly scheduled weekends. Compensation
From $74,200 to $80,144 per annum.
In addition, an incumbent occupying a position within the HVA subgroup of the Operational (OP) Category who has refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic certification and performs the duties of a HVAC technician is eligible to receive an annual terminable allowance of $6,770.
