Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Materials & Logistics (Shipper / Receiver / Materials Handler) Summer Student to work at our Edmonton Automation Centre location on a full-time basis from May to August 2026 . This position reports to the Manager, Materials Handling.
Role and Responsibilities
- Handle customer communications regarding shipping / receiving
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers
- Handle incoming, outgoing and internal deliveries
- Package outgoing shipments
- Handle inventory / stock, conduct stock counts, as required
- Computerized data input on various operating systems
- Picking orders
- Internal and external Customer communication
- Inventory floor maintenance
- Stock replenishment
- Customer counter interaction
- Maintain a safe work environment and actively participate in Spartans safety culture
- Maintain on-time delivery
- Maintain a clean work area
- Provide quality packaging and accurate receipts
Qualifications and Skills
High School DiplomaPrevious shipping / receiving and / or warehouse experience is considered an assetBasic computer skillsPrevious experience with SAP is considered an assetForklift operation (certification is considered an asset but training will be provided)Ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentSuperior customer serviceAbility to maintain a high level of attention to detail, and awareness of surroundings, in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environmentSuperior work ethicStrong organization, time management and multi-tasking skillsMust be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.This position has been deemed as Safety Sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment Alcohol and Drug testAs part our recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment security background checkSpartan recognizes that there are many ways in which candidates develop knowledge, abilities, and competencies throughout their careers.
