Robert Half is looking for a Payroll Manager in the Shared Services team in Langley BC! This position will report to the Director of Finance, Shared Services department.

You will have six direct reports Payroll clerks (permanent and temporary staff). This position will be involved in projects focused on integrations, implementations, process improvement, system maintenance and centralization.

Th organization is growing and expanding its operation through acquisitions and mergers. The Finance team is based in Langley, BC and manage the operations for a large private company! You will have an opportunity to grow along with the organization and take on new challenges.

Key functions for the role would be :

  • Oversee the Payroll team (4-5 permanent staff and additional temporary staff from time to time)
  • Review payroll and ensure timely processing of the payroll for all 10+ entities
  • Roll up the new companies into the shared services model after acquisitions
  • Onboard the new companies into the shared services payroll platform and ensure all processes and protocols are applied
  • Assist with the implementation of the new payroll system and liaise with the Finance / HR and IT Team leads on the implementation project
  • Create proper SOP's and document procedures as required to be followed by the payroll staff including manuals and checklists
  • Streamline and clean up current processes for efficiency and look for various areas of improvement
  • Performance & staff management on an ongoing basis including mentorship, training, support etc.
  • Payroll reporting and analysis for the leadership team including creatine reports that provide business insight
  • Tax remittances / government reporting and ensure proper legislations are followed for different provinces
  • KPI and performance management
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and review the union agreements
  • Aligning with the internal controls based on processes and ensure proper controls are in place at all times
  • Drive the integration process for new acquisitions and provide necessary training and feedback for the departments

Job Requirements : Must Haves :

Must Haves :

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior payroll supervisory / management position
  • Experience managing staff i.e., leadership skills (at least having managed a team of 3+ staff)
  • Able to gather and analyze data (using Excel tools) good reporting and analysis abilities
  • Understanding / knowledge of payroll, union agreements, experience in a multi-provincial payroll, experience managing a large payroll will be required
  • Exposure to QuickBooks and / or Sage 300 would be preferred
  • Exposure to UltiPro and / or Kronos will be an asset
  • CPM is desired
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with payroll implementations will be an asset
