We are looking for an Intermediate Project Manager for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
This position is 100% onsite. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.
Role Description
The intermediate Project Manager is responsible for leading medium-complexity projects and engages with senior management. The ideal candidate will ensure project execution aligns with organization governance, including compliance with policies, audit requirements and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop feasibility studies, business cases, and budget proposals.
- Establish and maintain project controls, including performance metrics, milestone reviews, and reporting mechanisms, to keep the project on track and deliver expected outcomes.
- Manage change and budget requests including cost estimates, schedules, resources, and interdependencies.
- Draft communications plans to keep stakeholders informed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support successful project outcomes.
- Manage sensitive issues, including the impact to all stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders from multiple groups with diverse priorities and perspectives.
- Prepare project charters and project plans.
- Identify and managing project specific risks (e.g. minor scope creep, vendor delays, resource absence, etc.).
- Coordinating logistics and scheduling for project management activities, such as stakeholder workshops, planning sessions, and status updates.
- Utilizing project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) to support effective project oversight.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups with competing interests.
- Present status reports, issue logs, and risk registers to project sponsors.
Required Skills and Experience
Project Management certification or designation (e.g. PMP) preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may also be considered4 to 7 years as an IT Project ManagerPrevious experience delivering projects within a public sector environment is a strong assetExperience in managing cross-functional and specialized risks impacting multiple departments or domains (e.g. system integration, data privacy, process and operational alignment, etc.)Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Power Point, Teams etcPlease note that while all applications are appreciated, only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
