The Opportunity :
Our client, a well-established post-secondary institution, is looking for a Payroll Clerk to join their team in Windsor, Ontario . Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for managing and processing payroll for part-time employees using a computerized system, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, institutional policies, and government regulations.

Preparing Records of Employment for employees and Service Canada.Generating payroll documentation and schedules for PeopleSoft input and bank transfers, ensuring timely deposits while accounting for holidays and deductions.Creating and analyzing PeopleSoft reports to verify transactions and correct any discrepancies.Developing and maintaining coding systems for distributing pay statements.Analyzing legislative changes, pension updates, and union agreements, implementing necessary payroll adjustments.Compiling and validating data for pre-T4 and T4A tax slips, ensuring accurate categorization of earnings and deductions.Responding to inquiries from employees and the public, resolving payroll-related issues promptly.Preparing remittances for agencies such as CRA, CAAT Pension, WSIB, and others, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules.Reviewing reports from the Report Manager and other sources to confirm accurate transfer of payroll data to the general ledger.Setting up new payroll configurations and scheduling activities to meet deadlines.Verifying employment details while maintaining confidentiality.Calculating and processing deductions for pensions, insurance, union dues, and other contributions.The Ideal Candidate :
Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, accounting, or other related fields.1 – 3 years of hands-on experience, with proven ability to manage end-to-end payroll.Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards and Canadian payroll.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as PeopleSoft payroll software.Complimentary Experience :
