We are currently seeking casual Community Mental Health Workers 2 to join our Mental Health Supervised Consumption team at the Outreach Urban Health Centre in Kelowna, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with solid understanding of supervised consumption services, knowledge of harm reduction principals and ability to work with clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders.

Previous experience with the marginalized, homeless population is considered an asset.

What will you work on?

The Community Mental Health Worker 2 functions as a part of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) multi-disciplinary specialized team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with severe and persistent mental health problems and / or substance use disorders have access to timely, responsive, evidence based psychosocial rehabilitation across the continuum of available services.

Performs a variety of life skills, advocacy, supportive counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation planning, and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing for the assigned client population(s).

Working within a psychosocial rehabilitation / harm reduction framework and informed by existing psychiatric and other health professional assessments, the Community Mental Health Worker 2 provides basic case management, establishes rehabilitation objectives and / or psychosocial rehabilitation plans for the assigned client population(s) and is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.

Scheduling Information :

Shift types are days and evenings and shift times are from 12 : 00 to 22 : 00 hours. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.
