Job description

Unit Summary

Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation is a program within McMaster Children's Hospital located at the Ron

Joyce Children’s Health Centre. The program is comprised of different services and clinics providing multidisciplinary

outpatient services to children and adults with developmental, emotional or behavioural, physical, and / or communication

needs.

Position Summary

As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides clerical and scheduling, administrative and / or

business support to patients, families and those providing service and / or care, including clinicians and physicians, within

Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation Services. Functions according to the job description for Business Clerks.

Additional responsibilities include support to our registration, scheduling and reception areas as needed.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday days (evenings and weekends may be required)

This position is temporary until July 2025.

Qualifications

1. Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program

2. Minimum 2 years experience as Business Clerk in a pediatric outpatient tertiary care setting

3. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using EPIC, MS Office, MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Exchange, MS

PowerPoint, Kronos; which may be subject to testing

4. Keyboarding minimum of 40 wpm

5. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1

and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position; which may be subject to testing

6. Demonstrated excellence in telephone communication skills in a fast paced clinic environment

7. Mathematical skills related to clinic statistics, payroll and scheduling

8. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills

9. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly

10. Demonstrated ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively

11. Demonstrated ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position

12. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending

13. Willingness to participate in a criminal reference screening process

14. Fluency in French will be considered an asset

15. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
