Research Educator Faculty Position

The Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact (HEI), Faculty of Health Sciences, at McMaster University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position for a three-year period (renewable) in the Special Appointment category. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology & Thromboembolism. This position is predominantly a research-oriented position. We are seeking an individual with an established track record in thrombosis and hemostasis research including evidence synthesis, systematic reviews and meta-analysis.

The successful applicant will be involved in a combination of clinical, research and educational activities; they are expected to work in collaboration with any of the research groups in HEI or research groups associated with the Department of Medicine/Hamilton Health Sciences. Clinical activities will include in-and out-patient work. Research activities, through participation on grants and publications, will span from methodology to clinical research, with a special focus on thrombosis and hemostasis. Educational activities will include teaching and supervision of students in HEI graduate programs, and medical students and residents in the McMaster undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs.

Applicants must have an MD and specialty training in Hematology. Applicants must have obtained a PhD (or equivalent training) in Health Research Methodology or a related discipline and must have proven experience in clinical research.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed to practice (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.

How To Apply

Please note that letters of reference are not required at the time of application. These will be solicited at later stages of the search process.

All applicants will receive an on-line confirmation of receipt of their application; however, only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interviews.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. To comply with the Government of Canada’s reporting requirements, the University is obliged to gather information about applicants’ status as either Permanent Residents of Canada or Canadian citizens. Applicants need not identify their country of origin or current citizenship; however, all applications must include one of the following statements:
