Position Summary
As a Methods Engineering Technologist , you will develop and maintain precise manufacturing documentation that defines the assembly processes for aircraft parts and sub-assemblies in alignment with type design specifications. You will recommend engineering changes to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance and collaborate with production, quality, procurement and other teams to address technical challenges.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and revise product structures, routings and work instructions to define parts, processes and special instructions.
- Define and revise conditions of supply documents for detailed parts and assemblies.
- Create assembly manuals for structural, system and electrical installations.
- Define tools required for manufacturing or assembly.
- Develop supplemental planning documentation for build sequence of aircraft and sub-assemblies.
- Submit engineering change requests to improve efficiency and quality.
- Investigate root causes of manufacturing problems and analyze potential solutions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and audits.
- Assist with non-conformance management tasks.
- Assist in acquiring and implementing new equipment to increase efficiency.
- Develop and roll out technical skills training for manufacturing personnel.
- Support training of production, QC and methods engineering personnel.
Education & Experience
Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology.5+ years of progressive experience in a large component manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace.Previous experience in manufacturing engineering, planning or methods role.Knowledge of fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts.Working knowledge of cost accounting and cost estimating.Understanding of aerospace engineering and manufacturing principles.Ability to apply engineering principles to process design issues.Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering drawings.Skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Office.Experience with CAD software such as CATIA, Envision.Experience with ERP systems.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Innovative thinking and strong decision-making.Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.This position will be located at our Calgary, Alberta office.
