Director of Community Services
The Town of Smithers has an exciting opportunity for a strategic and collaborative leader to oversee its community-facing services as the Director of Community Services. This is a full-time, exempt, senior-leadership position.
About Smithers Surrounded by mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and rivers, Smithers is a northern gem. The town has a population of around 5,400 and is a service hub for the surrounding region comprised of approximately 15,000 people. Residents enjoy four seasons of recreational activities; including a ski hill within half an hour of town, world-class fishing, backcountry and cross-country skiing, hunting, golfing and alpine trails for hiking and horseback riding, along with a lively music scene, boutique shopping, an art gallery and museum, an aquatic centre, and numerous family-friendly activities. About this opportunity Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Community Services is responsible for guiding the Town of Smithers’ community-facing services to enhance well-being, safety, inclusion, and engagement within the municipality. This role oversees a broad portfolio including recreation and culture, community safety and bylaw enforcement, homelessness and social development, and public communications and engagement.
This position offers a competitive salary of $126,029.36 - $136,829.60 (commensurate with experience).
