The Smart Grid Technology Lab’s research focuses on Power electronics, Energy Management Systems and other Smart Grid Technologies, applying the latest technology to the digital power industry. The lab has become a research organization with many significant industry achievements.

About the job

• Design, simulate, implement, and maintain microgrid control and protection systems.
• Produce and review protection and control schemes, functional design specifications, support technical requirement formulations and stakeholder discussions.
• Design, develop and test microgrid protection and control logics, communication, and APIs for EMS / SCADA integration.
• Support hardware and software integration of protection and control systems, with the interoperability on protocol stacks such as IEC 60870-5-101 / 104, IEC 61850 MMS, Goose, DNP3, Modbus.

Job requirements

However, proficiency in English is essential for this role for the following reasons : The person will be required to communicate regularly with colleagues located outside Quebec, where English is the primary language used for communication between offices.
