Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above.
In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments.
The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC.

Qualifications :
The successful candidate will havedemonstrated excellent teaching contributions with a proven aptitude forteaching communication and digital media studies at the undergraduate level.

- Candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate students in a communications and / or digital media studies program
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas
- Demonstrated ability to deliver classes remotely, using online modalities such as Kaltura Media and Google Meets
- Proven experience managing large classes and diverse populations
- Experience coordinating and supervising Teaching Assistants as applicable
- Excellent organizational skills are needed to effectively manage course delivery, the marking of assignments and exams and the ability respond to student enquiries in a timely manner.
Education :
A PhD in Communication Studies, Media Studies, or a closely related field.
Experience :
- Teaching and / or Research Experience in Professional Communication : Demonstrated experience in teaching or conducting research related to professional communication, organizational communication, or related fields, with a strong grounding in both theoretical and practical aspects.
- Knowledge of Professional Communication Skills and Practices : In-depth understanding of the core skills and knowledge required for effective professional communication, including verbal and nonverbal communication, listening, resume writing, interviewing, negotiation, conflict resolution and compromise, interpersonal and intercultural communication, teamwork and collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, professional writing, and presentation.
- Professional Experience in Communication and Organizational Practices : practical experience in professional communication within modern organizations is a plus.
This includes experience in applying communication skills in real-world scenarios such as negotiations, conflict resolutions, teamwork, and intercultural communication.
