The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking a Climate Products Manager to work out of our Nanaimo or Vancouver, BC office.

The Role Reporting to the Director, Climate & Watersheds, the Climate Products Manager will provide lead the sales and marketing efforts for ecosystem services, with a primary focus on voluntary carbon credits.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in voluntary carbon markets or regulatory markets, demonstrate a deep understanding of forest carbon and related ecosystem services.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Developing and executing a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets in the voluntary carbon credit market;
  • Leading the external channel partners in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities;
  • Staying on top of industry trends, regulations, and emerging opportunities within voluntary carbon markets;
  • Assisting in developing and improving analytical tools related to forest carbon work in order to improve efficiency and support sales;
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for key corporate clients, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and efficient communication;
  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations, proposals, and negotiations to secure voluntary carbon sales bids and agreements;
  • Identifying, engaging, and building relationships with potential clients (i.e., corporations, intermediaries, etc.) and their key decision-makers to understand their carbon offset needs and align our offerings to meet their requirements;
  • Tracking and analyzing sales data, inventory and Verra account management, internal feedback, buyer feedback, and market trends to optimize sales strategies;
  • Providing regular reports highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders;
  • Working closely to support internal staff on related monitoring, development, and customer tours; a
  • Staying abreast of changing protocols and opportunities in carbon space.
  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of marketing collateral to be featured on BigCoast Forests website, social or partner channels;
  • Attending industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent BigCoast Forests and promote our commercial solutions;
  • Support government and public relations related to forest carbon other ecosystem services; and
  • Working closely with external partners and agencies to enhance the brand presence in the market.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5 + years of experience in product or sales management in a corporate setting;
  • 10 + years of progressive experience in forest industry or climate markets;
  • An undergraduate Degree in Forestry, Business Administration, Commerce, Communications, Public Relations, Community Development or other related equivalent;
  • Proven track record of success with forest carbon development, carbon sales or related forest industry experience;
  • Experience in forestry and / or natural resource markets in Canada / US;
  • Strong network within the industry, including relationships with potential clients and intermediaries;
  • Strong understanding of the voluntary carbon market or forest carbon;
  • Ability to think creatively and implement innovative sales or project development solutions;
  • Strong financial acumen to effectively design, negotiate, and assess complex sales agreements;
  • Ability to effectively use a client relationship management (CRM) system, Salesforce, and other sales-related tools for data entry, analysis, and reporting;
  • Willingness and ability to travel (international travel possible) as required to engage with customers and clients (approximately 20%);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple projects and budgets under time and resource pressure; and
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of sales transactions.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $106,800 to $133,400. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
