Job description

Our client is a recognized, global Bank, located in Montreal, QC - and is looking to bring on a seasoned Application Support Resource on board, to specifically focus on USD payments and settlement systems.

Primary Role : Provide technical and functional support for the Montran JGPS application, used to process USD payments and settlements. The role includes managing real-time interfaces (SWIFT, FEDWIRE, CHIPS), downstream systems (Treasury, AML, Sanctions), and overseeing start-of-day, close-of-day, and batch processing.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Application Support :

Monitor and maintain the Montran JGPS application and its interfaces, ensuring smooth operation for USD payment and settlement processing.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform root cause analyses (RCA), defect remediation, and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and infrastructure / security teams for system support and maintenance.
  • Manage critical activities such as business continuity testing, security patching, and mandatory market infrastructure updates (e.g., SWIFT, FED / CHIPS).
  • Project Collaboration :
  • Act as the primary point of contact for projects, gathering requirements, defining solutions, and managing deliverables.

  • Coordinate with technical teams, ensure clarity on requirements, and oversee system implementations.
  • Document requirements, solutions, test plans, and results.
  • Lead and execute testing efforts (unit, integration, and user acceptance) and train staff as needed.
  • System Improvements :
  • Propose and implement enhancements to simplify and optimize information systems.

  • Collaborate on technical architecture and solution design, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Technical Expertise :

  • Familiarity with IT architecture, including hardware, networks, tools, and software.
  • Ability to validate data quality, investigate system questions, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of payment systems.
