Key Accountabilities
- Review & Revise equipment criticalities in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Lead RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) investigations and identify corrective actions to address the root cause of electrical equipment failures
- Lead refinement of the mill predictive and preventative maintenance programs
- Create detailed plans for unique complex jobs
- Conduct FMEAs (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
- Lead small capital reliability improvement projects from start to finish
- Develop QA / QC for critical electrical work
- IEPM (Instrumentation Electrical Precision Maintenance) Champion and Liaison with the Capital Engineering team
- Be familiar with and keep up-to-date on predictive technologies to aid in the early detection of impending equipment / process failure
Requirements
- P-Eng required or actively working towards P-Eng designation
- Instrumentation and Controls background (PLC, DCS, Electrical)
- Knowledgeable on large motor, construction, and maintenance requirements (AC and DC motors)
- Solid understanding and familiarity with electronic and pneumatic instrumentation systems
- Providing technical support for power and control issues and development of work procedures, standards, addressing of skill deficiencies, and development of best practices
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Ability to work as a leader in a team and collaborate with various Electrical Reliability Projects to ensure the continuity of operations
Assets for the position
- Power Distribution relaying and coordination knowledge
- Turbine Generator and Voltage Regulator experience
- Power distribution modeling software knowledge
- Experience with power distribution, power drives, and instrumentation
- Familiarity with electrical utility tie contracts
- EPD Maintenance inspection experience
- RCFA experience with power distribution events
Physical Demands
- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
- Access confined space entries for RCFA investigations
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or CET with the equivalent combination of demonstrated skill and work experience.
Registration with APEGA is preferred.
- Personal commitment to working safely and protecting the safety of others
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy industrial maintenance
- Strong Electrical aptitude
- Experience with PLC / DCS operations and logic
- Ability & confidence to initiate actions with a sense of urgency driving for high quality, sustainable results
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word
- Ability to communicate effectively and constructively, as well as good verbal and written English skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Comprehension of complex work instructions and documentation as well as the ability to perform duties with little direction
- Ability to travel internationally if required
