MCC prioritizes providing our guests with excellent care and comfort during their time with us. We're looking for a head waiter with at least three years of experience working in a hotel or restaurant or an event center.

The ideal candidate possesses a secondary school certificate and can perform the role's primary responsibilities. These include supervising table settings, food orders, service, payment processes, and other service staff.

Duties of Head Waiter

Food preparation

A head server manages all aspects of food preparation, including ensuring that chefs cook food assigned for that event. They do so by processing orders, preparing cooking schedules and ensuring the chefs maintain safety procedures in the kitchen.

Food preparation also involves monitoring portion sizes and presentation to appeal to customers.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service involves making menu recommendations to customers and serving them within a reasonable timeframe.

It also means responding calmly and politely to customer complaints. A head server tries to resolve guests' issues to ensure their experience remains positive.

Health and safety standards

Head servers require knowledge of health and safety standards in the hospitality industry. They communicate an organization’s safety and hygiene protocols regularly with servers to help maintain a hygienic environment.

Head waiters ensure servers adhere to health requirements and supervise the environment to prevent injuries. This may involve placing signs to prevent people from slipping on wet floors.

Foodservice

Head waiters typically manage general kitchen activities and ensure efficient food service. They discuss menus with their teams and supervise the quality of ingredients to meet customer satisfaction.

Good food service involves managing a busy dining area or event to serve customers effectively with quality food. It also includes maintaining a neat guest service area.

Collaboration with external suppliers

Hotels or restaurants work with external vendors or suppliers to get ingredients for meals and drinks. Head servers require the ability to communicate and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure they receive a good deal.

As a head server, you may also resolve issues during this process.

Bartending

As a head waiter, you're likely to work with other servers to provide bartending services to customers. In this role, you manage all areas of bartending, including dishwashing, organizing and catering private events and restocking, sanitizing and organizing the bar.

By maintaining the bar area in a busy Salon, you can ensure bartenders serve customers efficiently.

Administration

The administration is an important skill for a head server. This attribute enables you to prepare payrolls, create schedules and keep proper records of business transactions.

The ability to handle this paperwork and related administrative tasks helps you excel in your head waiter duties.

Use of credit card machines

Your role as a head waiter requires knowledge of handling credit card machines to ensure the payment process goes smoothly.

This skill allows you to effectively record and settle transactions at the end of each business day. Head servers also typically manage cash registers and credit card machines to ensure the maintenance of company funds.

As a head server, you require experience in closing and settling cash registers, credit card machines and point-of-sale systems at the end of each shift.

Responsibilities of a head waiter

A head waiter's duties include the following :

1) Monitoring dining area activities : Head waiters closely monitor all activities in the dining area. This includes food ordering, serving and related tasks.

2) Preparing menus : A head server handles the preparation of menus according to an organization's guidelines and requirements.

They consider the season, weather and customer preferences when planning menus.

3) Managing table settings : Head waiters supervise the table arrangements for customers. They ensure tables are neat and cutlery and glassware are in the correct places.

4) Training new employees : A head server trains new employees to familiarize them with the work requirements of the establishment.

They show new servers the accepted behavior, timing and work ethics to follow during their shifts.

5) Handling customer concerns : Head waiters listen and provide solutions to customer concerns. This enhances a client's experience and opinion of a restaurant or hotel.

2 years of restaurant / banquet experience.
