Our client is seeking an Electrical Designer to join their expanding Oil, Gas & Chemical (OGC) practice.
This role provides the opportunity to apply your technical design expertise, develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings, and demonstrate leadership through effective coordination, communication, and project execution.
The Electrical Designer will support a wide range of Oil, Gas & Chemical projects and will be responsible for the following :
Lead the design of grounding systems, duct banks, cable trays, area classification, and lighting layouts from initial concept through final delivery.
Prepare and deliver a full suite of electrical design documents, including plan views, installation details, and sectional drawings.
Perform calculations related to lighting, conduit, cable tray, and duct bank systems.
Develop accurate 3D models of electrical systems, including cable trays, lighting, duct banks, and vendor-furnished equipment.
Produce schematics and one-line diagrams based on engineering inputs.
Ensure all drawings and designs comply with internal standards, client requirements, and project specifications.
Maintain organized control of all design changes and drawing revisions.
Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards to ensure compliance.
Review and deliver design packages within project scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure alignment and successful execution.
Continuously expand knowledge of industrial construction practices and gain field experience.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or a related field with seven years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with eight years of experience, or nine years of progressive design and detailing experience.
Three or more years of experience in refining, gas processing, or pipeline projects preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of CEC, NEC, electrical fundamentals, industrial construction practices, industrial safety, and CAD standards.
Proficiency with 2D and 3D design tools such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, SmartPlant Review, and Navisworks.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new design software.
Solid knowledge of electrical design principles and practices, with an understanding of how other disciplines interface with electrical systems.
Proven ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers, to resolve issues and achieve project goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
