Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead delivery of a large-scale residential project in Calgary. This role is accountable for end-to-end construction execution, including direct oversight of the General Contractor, coordination of external consultants, and day-to-day control of schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
Success in this role requires strong on-the-ground presence, fast and sound decision-making, and the ability to clearly communicate priorities and direction across a complex stakeholder group.
What You Will Do
- Lead construction execution through close-out, with consistent on-site presence
- Make timely, well-reasoned decisions on construction, sequencing, and staffing issues
- Provide direct oversight of the General Contractor, holding them accountable to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
Schedule, Budget & Decision-Making
Own the master construction schedule and actively manage risks to critical path itemsReview and approve schedules, change orders, draw requests, and staffing plans with a bias toward speed, accuracy, and value-for-moneyMake prompt decisions to avoid delays, cost overruns, or ambiguity in the fieldTechnical & Building Systems Expertise
Apply strong working knowledge of structural, envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life-safety systemsIdentify constructability and integration issues early and drive practical, cost-effective resolutionsEnsure work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and approved design intentManage and coordinate external partners, including architects, engineers, inspectors, and specialty consultantsBuild and maintain effective working relationships with the GC, consultants, municipal authorities, and ownershipLead coordination meetings to resolve issues quickly and maintain momentumCommunication & Reporting
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with ownership, consultants, and site teamsProvide structured, actionable updates on progress, risks, decisions, and next stepsEscalate issues early with clear options and recommendationsQuality, Safety & Compliance

Experience & Background
10+ years of experience in construction management or project managementDemonstrated experience delivering large-scale conversion, adaptive reuse, or complex renovation projectsProven ability to manage a General Contractor and multiple external consultant teamsDecisive, with the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a dynamic construction environmentStrong written and verbal communicator who can cut through complexity and drive alignmentRelationship-driven operator who builds credibility and accountability with partners and site teamsHands-on, field-oriented leader with a strong on-the-ground presenceLocation Requirement
