Job Description :

Reporting to the Director, Communications and Public Affairs, the Manager, Trillium HealthWorks Communications will be responsible for strategic communications and engagement planning and execution to support THP's major projects.

This includes engagement with organizational partners, colleague organizations, staff, patients and families, and the communities of Mississauga and West Toronto.

This role is responsible for creating and maintaining meaningful collaborative engagements that are aligned with the organization's strategic plan and priorities, to enhance brand presence and awareness of THP.

This individual also has experience building and sustaining brand presence within complex, rapidly changing environments.

THP is looking for a talented leader who has the ability to provide senior level counsel and advice, who has the ability to create and maintain meaningful collaborative, inclusive engagements across a diverse and growing community and enhance brand presence and awareness to support an ambitious organizational mission.

This individual also has experience building and sustaining brand presence within complex, rapidly changing environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with diverse multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, communicators and strategists to bolster THP’s strategic objectives with both internal and external stakeholders.

This Manager will be responsible for prioritizing and designing communications initiatives in alignment with organizational strategy, while managing a team.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Analyze opportunities for enhanced and inclusive communications opportunities with partners and the community to advance our THP’s strategic goals;
  • Lead the development and implementation of multiple strategic communication initiatives;
  • Identify, produce and edit required supporting collateral, such as communications plans, key messages, speaking notes, issues notes and other written and multimedia communications products;
  • Manage various internal stakeholder requirements needed to implement plans;
  • Coach, mentor and manage the performance and deliverables of a team, ensuring quality and timeliness of work performed;
  • Actively participate in meetings, key discussions, plans and decisions with Trillium HealthWorks key partners, including construction, infrastructure and development companies and branches and Trillium Health Partner’s capital planning / master plan team;
  • Provide communications counsel, advice and decision support to multi-disciplinary teams of hospital professional staff, clinicians, service providers to implement the socialization and advancement of THP initiatives;
  • Project manage all communications and engagement activities with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal cadence and prioritization;
  • Work with various internal and external partners, including THP Foundation, to create an integrated approach to communications and public affairs initiatives;
  • Issues management and media relations as they relate to Trillium HealthWorks initiatives.
  • Lead, update and maintain public-facing digital channels related to Trillium HealthWorks, including community and staff newsletters and the Trillium HealthWorks website.
  • Plan and oversee engagement opportunities for the community such as town halls;
  • Oversee government relations opportunities and briefings as it pertains to TrilliumHealthWorks.
  • Support Director, Communications and Public Affairs in overall public affairs strategy as required;
  • Address work load demands and mentor and support team members in achieving communications and professional development goals;
  • Participate in the Communication’s On-Call program

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum seven to ten years in strategic communications, public affairs or related field;
  • Strong public relations acumen;
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans;
  • Proven experience building and maintaining brand presence to help achieve an organizational mission;
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Experience in government and community relations
  • Strong understanding of and experience in communicating through change;
  • Strong time management skills with minimal need for oversight;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Results-oriented and client-focused with a commitment to excellence;
  • Experience leading a team; and
  • Government relations and hospital experience, considered an asset.

Position Location and Travel :

The successful candidate will be primarily based out of the Mississauga Hospital site and will be required to travel among the three main sites of Trillium Health Partners The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre.
