Human Resources Manager
Head Office | Building Materials | Multi-Location Organization
Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and supporting all HR functions at the Head Office level while partnering closely with operational locations. This role oversees employment policies, recruitment, performance management, training initiatives, and health & safety compliance across a multi-location environment.
The position requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution within a decentralized operating structure.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to locations on employment policies, procedures, and employee relations matters
- Oversee performance management processes, including annual appraisals and goal setting
- Lead recruitment strategy and execution, including engagement of external recruiters and participation in career fairs
- Monitor and respond to online employer reviews and support employer brand management initiatives
- Maintain and administer Head Office shared systems and HR-related contacts (Microsoft O365 environment)
- Coordinate and select trainers and facilitators for in-person training workshops
- Oversee internal learning management systems and training plans
- Administer and manage the organization's HRIS platform
- Support onboarding processes and enhance the new employee experience
- Organize and facilitate company-wide meetings and leadership events
- Ensure regular review and updates of HR documents, forms, guides, and training materials
Health & Safety Responsibilities
Ensure Occupational Health & Safety standards are maintained across all locationsAct as management representative for the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (Head Office)Support rollout and implementation of new safety procedures and compliance initiativesOversee Return-to-Work (RTW) cases, WCB claims, and LTD administrationParticipate in ongoing safety training and professional certification as requiredQualifications
7+ years of progressive Human Resources experienceMinimum 3-5 years in an HR leadership or management capacityExperience supporting multi-location operations (retail, distribution, or building materials preferred)Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related fieldCHRP or CPHR designation strongly preferredStrong knowledge of Canadian employment standards and Occupational Health & Safety legislationExperience administering HRIS platforms (ADP Workforce Now or similar systems)Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leadershipStrong communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skillsCompensation Range - 130,000 to 160,000 dependant on experience#LI-LBM
