Position Summary VCC is currently hiring for on-call casual office administration employees to fill in various Departments. The job description listed below is generally indicative of the nature of the work. Specific duties may change from Department to Department. Duties & Responsibilities
- Word Processing duties include : Accurately word process from copy, rough draft, or general instructions, a variety of material such as correspondence, reports, forms, and other related data. Recall previously stored material and make revisions, additions and deletions from new or existing sources. Utilize a variety of related software and equipment (eg. Desktop Publishing, scanner, etc.).
- Schedules and coordinates, prepares and distributes agendas and supporting documentation, records, transcribes and circulate minutes.
- Prepares spreadsheets.
- Perform general office duties including filing, faxing, photocopying, etc.
- Cashiering duties include : Receive and process payments received at the counter or by mail and balance receipts with computer totals. Prepare and make bank deposits. Provide information and assistance over the telephone and in person to students, staff and the general public on a variety of matters related to financial information. Prepare, process and maintain a variety of accounting records, processes billings, prepares monthly reconciliations and reports.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 including standard commercial and keyboarding courses. 9 months to 1 year related experience in a general office and clerical work or an equivalent combination of training and / or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.Bookkeeping, cashiering and accounting experience would be an asset. Sound knowledge of modern office practices, business English and Mathematics.Superior skills in oral English are essential. Good command of written and spoken English.Ability to maintain a pleasant telephone manner and to demonstrate patience and tact during very busy periods. Ability to juggle priorities and act as back-up for a variety of administrative areas is necessary.Ability to deal with the public, students, employees and others with tact and diplomacy.Ability to perform clerical and word processing assignments exhibiting strong organizational skills.Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm. Sound computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Outlook and Access. Cashiering experience may be required in various Departments.
