Job Description
The Process & Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of the facility. The role involves operating and maintaining the plant as part of a team, including process control, laboratory testing, equipment operation, and basic maintenance duties.
Main Responsibilities :
- Control and operate automatic and semi‑automatic machines and related equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, centrifuges, chemical feed, etc.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units in the assigned area.
- Monitor and record operating conditions and observations in a shift log.
- Use SCADA for process monitoring and system control to operate various equipment.
- Perform field tests (chemical, physical, and biological) to adjust chemical dosages for process control units or alter unit processes. This includes TS, TSS, pH, and other lab tests typical of wastewater and anaerobic digestion.
- Sample wastewater, sludge, and gases (odor control, digester, etc.) according to schedule.
- Make independent decisions concerning process control changes and direct the activities of other operators assigned to the shift.
- Ensure conformance to process specifications, diagnose basic operational problems, and take corrective action per procedure. Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to the supervisor.
- Perform manual labor including filling and emptying machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required.
- Practice good housekeeping and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Education & Experience :
Over five years of experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of water / wastewater treatment methods and practices.Experience in operating anaerobic digestion highly regarded.High school education or equivalent with effective written and oral communication skills.Associate’s degree in a science or technical area preferred.Understanding of processes including digesters, wastewater treatment, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy, and laboratory procedures.Effective troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and team‑building skills.Ingenuity and initiative to coordinate problem resolution and execute schedule requirements within a team environment.Required Skills
Attention to detail and ability to accurately follow procedures.Analytical skills to understand data and graphs; capability to make decisions based on data.Proficiency in the use of site‑specific PPE.Computer skills : email, SCADA trending, and data retrieval.Ability to respond to emergency calls and work extended hours as needed.Commitment to compliance with applicable laws, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, and other policies.Strong written and oral communication; basic math skills.Good use of the English language, deadline orientation, teamwork, hand‑eye coordination, and repetitive motions.Reliability and dependability regarding start and finish times.Work Environment
