Job Title : Superintendent - Night Shift
Role Summary :
The Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for managing and organizing all project construction teams, ensuring safety, and monitoring project progress according to approved schedules.
The Superintendent oversees the day-to-day execution of the project with a focus on risk management, team leadership, mentoring, and comprehensive project planning.
The role reports directly to the General Superintendent and involves frequent collaboration with subcontractors and site staff.
The salary posted reflects the base salary and is subject to a %20 premium for shift shift on top of the base salary.
Major Areas of Responsibility :
Site and Team Management :
- Interpret drawings and specifications to develop a detailed preliminary plan for project execution in collaboration with estimating and operations teams.
- Follow and track progress according to the construction schedule.
- Review tender / construction schedules and oversee site progress.
- Motivate project teams and stakeholders to complete work safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Monitor site progress, initiating corrective actions to ensure timely completion of major milestones.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain clean and organized worksites with appropriate signage to project a professional image.
- Enforce health and safety standards throughout the project.
Risk Management :
- Develop and maintain a Risk Plan Matrix in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Recommend major project execution plans and implement advanced risk management strategies.
Team Leadership, Management, and Culture :
- Lead field teams with transparency, integrity, and professionalism.
- Assemble key personnel to form a sustainable and successful project team.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent and other field staff.
- Provide ongoing guidance on construction methodologies and best practices alongside the General Superintendent.
- Mentor team members, helping to resolve conflicts or problems in a way that protects project schedules and quality.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- 5+ years of experience in institutional building construction.
- Expert ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and visualize construction work.
- Strong scheduling, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Proven mentoring and coaching abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Safety training, including CSO certification or similar, WHMIS.
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Preferred Education and Certifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Project or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Post-secondary technical knowledge of building types, subcontractor scopes, building codes, and construction methods.
- Gold Seal Certification.
- Journeyman or Interprovincial Trade Certification.
- High school diploma.
