Speech Language Pathologist
Position : Speech Language Pathologist (Temporary Contract) Location : Various Elementary Schools Hours / Week : 30-40 Hours per week Start Date : ASAP Closing Date : Open Until Filled JobQualifications : Fort McMurray Catholic Schools requires a full time SpeechLanguage Pathologist.
This job involvesproviding speech and language services to grades EEP - 6 students within aninclusive educational environment.
The primary responsibilities will focus on addressing andidentifying speech and language needs, using assessment tools, which have beenimpacting the student’s performance in an early learning setting.
Collaboratingand communicating with both the school team and multi-disciplinary team isessential. Involvement in buildingcapacity with teachers, other educational staff, and through parents and familyis the primary responsibility within a school environment.
Job Responsibilities and Activities - Multi-disciplinary team participation and individual program development (IPP / ISP)- Administrate, score, and interpret standardized speech and language assessments- Conductspeech and language therapy within the context of typical classroom activities- Directand assist students in performing daily classroom routines- Participatein Individual Program Planning (IPP) Collaborate to develop and model broadbased strategies that focus on integration of Speech and Language developmentwithin the daily functioning of classroom / school environments- ProfessionalDevelopment focused on supporting staff development and increasing knowledgefor Division- Modelinclusive, broad based strategies for Teachers, Facilitators, Parents and EA’sin the classroom.
Monitorchildren’s progress and advise on strategies for assessing students’achievement of curricular outcomes in grades 1-6- Assistand provide support to the team in the identification of children who qualifyfor Program Unit Funding- Develop / extendpartnerships with the Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the Community and connectSLP programming and resources The successful applicant must holda Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology and be registered withACSLPA.
Two or more years of experiencewould be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
