Mechanical Designer
Our client is an established manufacturer of packaging machinery with over 40 years of experience. They are currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join their team on a 3-4 month contract.
Role and Responsibilities :
- Assist in preparing design concept models for review.
- Create and revise Autodesk Inventor models and detailed drawings, AutoCAD drawings, BOM’s, and other engineering documentation as required under instruction from senior engineer.
- Create detailed drawings from existing 3D models using Autodesk Inventor.
- Participate in design and drawing reviews, documentation preparation, shop floor troubleshooting, prototype builds, and testing when necessary.
- Create / maintain documents required to support the design effort such as open issues lists, pre-design checklists, machine layouts etc.
- Develop / update user manuals.
Qualifications :
- 3+ years of experience working in Machine Design.
- 3+ years of Solidworks / Autodesk Inventor experience in a mechanical environment.
- Experience designing for various manufacturing process (sheet metal, welding, machining)
- Experience with selection of mechanical components (hydraulic / pneumatic cylinders, bearings, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with creating mechanical layout, weldment, and assembly drawings
- Capable with GD&T and other industry accepted tolerancing methods
- Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly
- Experience with calculations to verify design strength an asset
- Knowledge of food or pharmaceutical equipment an asset
