Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a casual Program Assistant to join the Mental Health and Substance Use Administration team at Joseph & Rosalie Segal Family Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.

As a Program Assistant in Mental Health and Substance Use with VCH, you will :

• Receive verbal / written referrals for new patients / clients, answers telephones and greets clients, coordinates patient appointments and responds to general inquiries.
• Arrange meetings and attend departmental meetings to record notes or take minutes.
• Set up and maintain filing systems, maintain timekeeping records and completes on-line purchase requisitions for equipment and supplies.
• Type / Transcribe a variety of healthcare documentation, medical dictation / consultations, correspondence, reports and presentations utilizing intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Grade 12, supplemented with courses in medical transcription and two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to type 50 wpm.
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders, as of October 5, 2023, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most-recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Proof of vaccination status will be required.
