Location : We are seeking an experienced Stewarding Supervisor for the BC Place Stadium.
Sodexo Live! is the Official Supplier of Food and Beverage Services to BC Place Stadium. BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located at the north side of False Creek, it is owned and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation of the province. Home to BC Lions, Vancouver White Caps, Concerts and Live events, the facility hosts welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans each year, while generating significant economic activity for the Province.
Job Overview :
The Stewarding Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the stewarding team to ensure all kitchen and dish room areas across BC Place are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
The role coordinates dishwashing operations, waste management systems, equipment maintenance, and team scheduling to support large-scale events including sports games, concerts, and catering events. This position is essential to ensuring the culinary team can execute at peak performance across multiple production areas.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Previous stewarding, dishwashing, or janitorial experience in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment is an asset – training will be provided
- Experience in a stadium, hotel, or large volume operations is an advantage
- Previous role in a supervisory or team lead position preferred
- Must be able to work in a fast paced and high pressure environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high-volume dish throughput
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of commercial dishwashing systems, sanitation standards, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40lbs; comfortable working in hot, cold, or humid environments
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and established procedures
- Must be available to work 3 prep days prior to an event, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must wear appropriate Non – Slip Shoes at all times
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral
Qualifications / Skills :
Supervise, train, and support a team of kitchen stewards across multiple kitchens and dish pits.Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure staff meet cleanliness and sanitation standards.Provide hands-on leadership during high-volume events and peak service periods.Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, onboarding, and coaching of stewarding staff.Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.Oversee organization and operation of dishwashing areas in the main kitchen, suites kitchen, lounges, and concession support zones.Ensure all smallwares, china, flatware, glassware, pots, pans, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly.Monitor par levels of smallwares, racks, and chemicals; coordinate replenishment with purchasing and culinary leadership.Maintain clean, organized, and safe dish rooms and stewarding spaces.Ensure dishwashers, glasswashers, and sanitation equipment are functioning correctly; report issues promptly.Support routine and deep-cleaning schedules for kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fridges, steamers, etc.).Coordinate with Facilities, Engineering, and vendors for maintenance and repairs.Manage waste, recycling, compost, and organics handling in accordance with stadium sustainability policies.Ensure correct sorting and safe transportation of waste to designated holding areas.Train staff on environmental best practices, including reducing contamination in recycling.Enforce food safety and sanitation protocols in line with Vancouver Coastal Health guidelines.Ensure proper chemical handling, WHMIS compliance, and use of PPE.Maintain logs, checklists, and cleaning records to support inspections and audits.Conduct routine walk-throughs of all stewarding areas to ensure compliance.Support event-day logistics including distribution of hotboxes, carts, smallwares, and equipment across kitchens and venues.Coordinate stewarding resources to meet event timelines for setup, service, and breakdown.Serve as a key point of contact for chefs and culinary leadership during events.Other Requirements :
Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.Thank you for expressing interest in employment with Sodexo Live!.
