The Opportunity :

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intermediate Mine Waste Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and management of mine waste facilities, including tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and water management systems. This role requires a strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.

What you can expect to do here :

  • Design and oversee the construction of mine waste facilities;
  • Conduct geotechnical and environmental assessments;
  • Develop and implement mine waste management plans;
  • Perform stability and seepage analyses;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of mine waste management systems;
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards;
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, environmental scientists, water resource engineers and project managers;
  • Provide technical support during project planning and execution phases.
  • What you'll bring to WSP :

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field;
  • 5-7 years of experience in mine waste management or a related field;
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration;
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices;
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, GeoStudio, etc.);
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in a related field;
  • Experience with tailings dam design and management;
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes;
  • Experience in project management.
